Sylvia Marie Gin
Sylvia Marie Gin is a recent graduate of San Francisco State University holding a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Health Education with an emphasis in Community Based Public Health and a minor in Women’s Health Issues. She has an interest in serving diverse and underprivileged communities and has done so through volunteer work with homeless populations near Civic Center, working in a Department of Children, Youth, and their Families government-funded summer camp in the Excelsior District, and promoting campus health as a Tobacco and Smoke-Free Policy student advocate at SF State. In Sylvia’s most recent job appointment, she serves as the Administrative Coordinator for EDvance where she hopes to assist programs that help educators create high quality education and provide health, equity, and social justice in inclusive settings. She recently returned from a Honors Program in South Africa where she administered teacher trainings, worked in preschool classrooms, and participated in a community-based mural project but above all, gained a new perspective on the importance of early childhood education internationally. Sylvia hopes to continue to be a part of positive and adaptable practices in educational settings and to inspire change in her community and beyond.
