Brijhe Pointer is an Early Childhood Workforce Coordinator for EDvance and she is also an alumni of the program. She is a recent graduate from San Francisco State University holding a degree in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis on Early Childhood education. She has worked in the field of early care and education for three years working with children ages 3-5 in a play-based preschool setting. In her experience as a lead teacher in a publically funded preschool classroom in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunter’s Point she used Learning Stories to highlight children’s strengths to inform curriculum and support family involvement efforts at her preschool.
Additionally, she engaged in teacher reflection with her community of reflective practice to develop the skills needed to create meaningful relationships with the families and children to gain a deeper understanding of how to support children with a strengths based approach in the classroom and community setting.
Brijhe also has an interest in international early education and through the EDvance program has been able to spend a summer teaching abroad in Cape Town, South Africa.
