Dr. Lygia Stebbing is the Director of the EDvance program at SF State. Dr. Stebbing has over 20 years of experience working with underserved youth, including fifteen years working in San Francisco designing programs to support high quality early childhood education programs. For the past eight years, she has designed and implemented a series of innovative degree pathway programs for early childhood educators. Additionally, Dr. Stebbing has created and instructs a variety of Child Development courses focused on social justice, community engagement, professionalism and practicum. Dr. Stebbing’s doctoral research focused on the academic and programmatic supports necessary to maintain diversity in the early childhood workforce. Dr. Stebbing holds a mayoral appointment for the Office of Early Care and Education Citizens Advisory Committee and is the Higher Education representative for San Francisco’s QRIS Local Planning Consortia. Dr. Stebbing holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Delaware, an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from SF State and an EdD in Educational Leadership from SF State.
