Heather Jones Daniels
Heather Jones-Daniels, MA currently serves as the EDvance Academic Success Manager and has spent the past decade working closely with diverse student populations to lower the opportunity gap in education. Using her 4 years of experience as an ESL teacher for adults, for the past two years Heather has developed an innovative program to meet the needs of ECE professionals so they may gain key English skills in order to thrive in college coursework. In addition, Heather serves as the Metro Child and Adolescent Development Program Coordinator and as a PATH instructor. In these roles, she has helped lead the PATH Faculty Learning Community to create high quality, research-based coursework for PATH students by using scaffolding strategies and culturally responsive teaching. Outside of her work with EDvance, Heather has also worked with UC Berkeley’s Center for Cities and Schools as a teacher coach and program coordinator to implement project-based learning projects with high schools throughout Oakland Unified School District. Heather also has three years of experience working in the ECE field coordinating and managing Jumpstart programming in San Francisco and the Bronx. Heather has a B.A. in Education and African American Studies from Smith College and a M.A. in Education Leadership: Politics and Advocacy from New York University.
